Uses much, much more ink than other, similar multi-function printers. Hence, very, very expensive to use. Very poor quality printing on any but the “highest quality” setting. Not recommended.

Bought this printer four weeks ago and with following the instructions, setting up was simple. Once you’ve read the instructions, scanning is pretty straight forward too. I also like the fact that there is a telephone handset on the unit so you can use it as a land line if necessary. All and all I found it to be a nice, reliable, all in one printer with a very affordable price. I would recommend this printer to others.

5 stars since it is excellent and the only real choice. I ordered this from another source due to shipping costs from the Amazon partner, Ant. I ordered a USB cable from them at a great price, then saw that they charged over THREE times the product price for shipping! Over $8 for a few ounces. This seems to be a major problem with Amazon partners. Target’s charge for shipping an electric skillet was equal to the product price. I passed on that. ALWAYS CHECK THE S&H charge before ordering! Did you know ink has an expiration date? Amazon sells enough of these that the stock stays fresh. My cartridges had over a year’s shelf-life left on them when they arrived.

Customer Review: Consumer deception!
As a computer consultant, this is such a pet peeve. Printer companies selling printers at megacheap prices so you can be gouged with ink. This has 5 mL of ink in this cartridge. Now, check out the HP 56 cartridge — 19 mL for about the same price. Remember, it’s the same product inside — ink. Think about it, if you buy this cartridge, you are getting $6 worth of ink for $20ish. Each new cartridge would be $14 you could have spent on a better printer.
Customer Review: Not enough Ink!!
The HP 21 ink cartridge runs out within a couple weeks. I don’t print THAT many pages, but I DO use my printer! My old printer, using HP 45, ran months. This one, using 21, runs out of ink Wayyyy tooooo sooooon. It’s OK for someone who prints something once in awhile, but not on a daily basis.

It’s hard to complain with the larger ink capacity (21ml) and HP’s method of incorporating a new print head with each new cartridge. Buying directly from HP is a good economical alternative.

Customer Review: Deceptive advertising
I won’t go into a lot of detail about the product performance. My main complaint is the deceit of the advertisement. The seller is not amazon.com. They advertise by showing what appears to be an HP package of both ink cartridges, and nowhere in the ad does it say these are remanufactured. So I would think people assume these to be new. I know I did. What arrived were refurbished cartridges. The color one was leaking right off the bat and had to be discarded. The company would not replace it. Personally, I would avoid these and for a few dollars more, you can buy genuine HP, brand new products. If you like remanufactured cartridges, that’s fine. Many people use them. But the seller needs to be clear that this is what they are selling.

I never got the product. There was a shipping problem that was not J&R’s fault. However, J&R refused to work with me and UPS to rectify the problem. J&R’s customer service failed miserably. Amazon’s A-to-Z Guarantee stepped up to the plate and did a great job where J&R failed. Way to restore my faith Amazon.
